A Happening vs. A Situation:
Two conditions within Life
(How can I tell the difference?)

The process of understanding the Universe is difficult, at best. It becomes even more difficult if the individuals involved do not speak the same language... use the same concepts as did the ancient Magi who taught the teachers of today, so to speak. Since it is our hope to transfer some of our knowledge to you, and, since we hope that you receive exactly what we send, in the way we send it, we'd best begin by defining a few terms. Who knows, in the process we might both learn something.

As the title of this article implies, our target for understanding is the difference between two words that often get interchanged when they should not; as they give two different messages. We do not mean to imply that people use these words incorrectly, we simply desire that we both use the same definition for the same words.

On the one hand, we have the compound word "A Happening", and on the other hand we have the compound word "A Situation". For our purpose, "A Happening" is when we are speaking of an event that is extremely important to an individual's life; such that, the interaction changes the course of the future by changing either the thinking process, the level of observation, or future behavior. The key to remember is that the term A Happening always refers to an interaction between an individual and others of the same kind, between an individual and the environment, or between an individual and the understanding of the self.

Again, it is important to accept that it is not the presence nor the absence of the individuals involved, it is the interaction of the individuals that are involved that is called A Happening.

Observably, to have an A Happening there must be people, places, and/or things present. The process wherein "this" causes X, or because this person did X behavior, or this person said X, and, therefore, he did X to me, and that caused me to feel like X, etc. are components of an A Situation. Again, A Situation always addresses the particulars of drama. It deals with the placing of the props and not the interaction of the players.

With this in mind, let's discuss the nature of an A Happening, as it is a very import player in the creation of an individual's karmic-bonds. Firstly, let us consider that an A Happening consists of two parts--the target event (the stage or the stages upon which an individual can act out the roles of life's script as the individual interplays with Karma's AffinityFactor) and the combination of Forces which brought about the target event (various Steering Currents that are brought about by the AffinityFactor, itself). For the species in question (humans of the Planet Earth), the event, itself, becomes more important to the individual who is experiencing it than are the Forces which brought about the event. The special set of forces which brought about the event, for the most part, remains transparent to that individual and to that event.

With the above understanding, an A Happening is an entire event, such as the birth of a child, which brings about the playing of games, or the playing of roles; the circumstances (the effects of the special Forces which brought about the event) need not be limited to the immediate circumstance surrounding the target behavior (the Forces which govern the target event, itself).

Example #1: The A happening of the birth of a child could also include the man and the circumstance with which the woman became pregnant, and everything that happened to the woman as she carried and finally gave birth to the child. Usually, however, the A happening is limited to the immediate role that is being played; such as the nine months which the child is being carried, or the actual process of birth, or, in some cases, the goings on during the night of passion that led to the pregnancy.

Example #2: The A happening of breakfast could be as limited as the eating of the breakfast food, or as all encompassing as the individuals present and the conversation during the time.

To further complicate matters, an A Happening could be taking place all in an individual's mind--the stages of reality (past, present, or future) need not be a governing factor. Still further, the A Happening in question could be taking place in an alter-reality, such as in a dream.

Regardless of the moment to moment specifics of the A Happening, to the specific individual that is in the process of experiencing it, it has a level of reality that is often very uncomfortable, to say the least--but not always. In rare cases, the A Happening is welcomed because of the reward received--one man's poison is another man's pleasure.

There is no set rule which governs how long the A Happening will be, other than the hidden agenda of the individual's desires; nor is there a set limit to exactly how much the A Happening will comprise--the night of passion, the nine months of carrying a child, the problems with finding a good Doctor, the birth, and the raising of the child could all form the same A Happening. It could also include the 18 years or so that the child resides at home and the trouble with the college years.

The only prerequisite for being called an A Happening is that it [the human interaction] have an effect upon the individual, such that it makes an impression upon he who has it--it need not cause a permanent change.

Firstly, let us take a moment to think in terms of Unity, Duality, and Triunity. In our special case, we are interested in understanding that while an A Happening is dual in its nature (it consists only of the interaction of life-forms during an event, and the interaction of life-forms with the forces which brought about the event), an A Situation, on the other hand, is Triune in its nature (it does not concern itself with any type of interaction with the life-forms that are present, it consists of one or more events, the forces which brought about these events, and the interplay of various props (not the interplay of the life-forms with those props as all interaction of life-forms belong to the A Happening) which contribute to the purpose of the existing events).

In other words, it could be said that an A Situation is an entire matrix within which an A Happening can take place. It is the Affinity Factor's creation of an opportunity for one or more individuals to have an A Happening, an opportunity to play their respective role in a game that is Karmically designed.

A simple example would be: the A Situation called World War II. In this example, there are a number of events (the first part of the Triunity) becomes:

  1. The fighting (not the individuals doing the fighting, nor the strategy used during the fighting);
  2. The killing (not the life-forms that are doing the killing nor the life-forms being killed);
  3. The conquest (the fighting and the killing for some type of conquest. What the conquest is and who or what is being conquered is of little importance--this is part of the A Happening.

The Forces which brought about the event (the second part of the Triunity) are:

  1. The terms imposed on Germany at the end of World War I (not the feelings of the people nor the people--this belongs to the A Happening);
  2. People's greed (not the people themselves nor the reason for the greed--this belongs to the A Happening);
  3. The economy of the time;
  4. The nature of the German people in general (their history of being a warrior people);
  5. The us-verses-them personality which existed at the time;
  6. The left over feelings that were generated during World War I (at the end of World War I the people's emotions had not been satisfied. Many people still wanted to get even with those who were responsible for the pain which the war generated. As such, they were brewing for another fight).

A very small list of the props (the third part of Triunity) is:

  1. The economy of the times and how this impacted upon the need to fuel the fighting ( not the reasons why the individuals wanted to fight);
  2. The haves verses the have nots mentality of the time (independent of who those people were);
  3. The mentality that war is a good "ender" of bad economic times because of the money generated in manufacturing war materials (not the fact that this broadened the gulf between the have and the have not);
  4. The hatred and the prejudices of the people against others who were not of their kind (not the interaction part just the presence and/or the absence of the prejudices);
  5. The people themselves (not their interaction nor their feelings);
  6. The weapons themselves;
  7. The opportunity for battle.

The state of Reality for one individual is not necessarily the same as the state of Reality for another individual. Time and circumstance could make the difference. Therefore, walk softly through life, and, walk with an understanding Heart.
