In the above diagram, if the large bubble were to be the carbon Universe, then each smaller bubble contained within would be the different galaxies that the carbon Universe contains. Then, again, if one chose to view so, it could represent the many counterparts of galaxies having different bases--only one of which would be carbon based, others would/could be other bases, such as copper or silicon. In any case, the base would govern the possibilities within.
